Kirkeboken har bestått av to separate bøker; 1834-1853 og 1854-1874 som har vært ført felles for hele prestegjeldet, i avdelinger for hvert av soknene Brønnøy, Vik og Naustvik. Da Naustvik i 1875 ble utskilt som Velfjord prestegjeld ble sidene som omhandlet Naustvik tatt ut og bundet inn som egen bok (814A05), jfr. påtegning på innerpermen. Da Vik ble utskilt som eget prestegjeld i 1901 ble også sidene herfra på samme måte tatt ut og bundet inn som egen bok (812A05).
